Betty Jackson

Betty Jackson has always been inspired by artists and painters. Initially her idea was to put the paintings that inspired her onto cloth and cut them into clothes. As each one was cut from a different piece of cloth, each one would be unique and in that way, the piece of clothing would become a work of art in its own right. Although the silhouette of her clothes has changed radically since the early eighties, she remains strongly inspired by the visual arts as far as mood is concerned.

She has always believed that clothes should perform for the wearer in any given situation, and loves the idea that the outfit you choose at the beginning of the day should take you effortlessly through to the evening, simply by changing your accessories.

Romance and femininity are this season’s main inspiration for yet another gorgeous summer collection. Warm and feminine flower prints in pastel shades of violet, shell, rose and blues are mixed with acid yellow and grass green. Lace trim detailing is revealed from under layering; bringing more romance to some of our favourite oversized simple shapes. Monochrome is also a key theme for Summer 2010 with steel grey and navy soft silks complemented with sheer silver lurex. Jersey dresses are draped with 3D pleating details and bring a soft yet structured feel to this colourful collection.
