Inertia
‘Inertia’ is a derivative of the most recent work produced with fashion Designer www.ioannisdimitrousis.com Spring/Summer 2009. The geometric graphic gives a sense of movement using materials combining the warm tones of Mahogany wood with 18ct Green Gold Leaf, Vintage Formica, recycled glass and oxidised silver fittings. Kathryn Marchbank is a designer jeweller working by the name everygirlsenvy.
General Information
I create jewellery with a playful and elegant aesthetic, giving an interpretation of the forms and lines I observe in the movement and language of dance.
Inspiration and more description
I am fascinated by the human figure in motion. The shapes of break dancers in the New York Subway or those created by Media-artist, director and composer Klaus Obermaier.
The fusion of dance and light continually inspire me and it is in this context that the design and aesthetic of my jewellery is based. I try to embody a visual expression through form and colour in abstract styles and figurative shapes.
Connecting and working with artists established in the fields of performance, dance, choreography and music is an important part of my work.
Recent commissions have been for Sadler’s Wells supplying accessories for their Hip Hop ‘Breakin’ Convention’ and for Kymberlee Jay of Funk Physics Ltd.
